Secondary School Experiences

As Australia’s leading seafood cooking school, Sydney Seafood School sets the benchmark for immersive and customisable private cooking experiences. Turn your next excursion into a chance for your students to connect, improve their communication and collaborative skills, and learn all about Australian seafood!

Our private education experiences encourage students to work together - allocating tasks, solving problems, drawing on each other’s strengths, and finally enjoying the results of their hard work together.

About Our Experiences

  • Our secondary school experiences are designed for a maximum of 40 students, with a minimum of 15 students required to book. We recommend at least one accompanying teacher for every 20 students.
  • Each class includes a detailed demonstration in our tiered theatrette, a hands-on cooking experience with help from our staff, and finally time for your students to enjoy their creations in our dining room. All classes also include detailed explanations of best-practice seafood handling, purchasing, and storage.
  • Private classes can be held at any time of the day (subject to the availability of the School), to suit your group’s itinerary.
  • If some of your students aren’t seafood eaters, don’t worry - they can still participate! Most classes can be adapted to suit a range of dietary requirements.

Class Options

Seafood Basics | 3.5 Hours | $160 per student

Let our expert demonstrators walk your students through how to choose the freshest seafood, how to take advantage of locally-caught seafood, and how to prepare a wide range of species. This class is packed with technical fundamentals, like filleting and pin boning whole fish, cleaning squid, sectioning and cracking crab, and cooking mussels.

Paella | 2.5 Hours | $130 per student

Students will dive head-first into a Spanish soiree at our popular Paella class. This hands-on experience teaches students to prepare cephalopods (squid), bivalves (mussels), and crustaceans (crab and prawns), learning about Spanish culture and the regional variations of Paella along the way!

Seafood Basics + Paella | 6.5 Hours | $270 per student

This immersive experience kicks off with Seafood Basics, allowing your students to get the fundamentals of seafood handling underneath them, before their lunch break. After lunch, students will apply their new skills to making a delicious Spanish Paella, which they get to take home in an insulated cooler bag. This class also includes a catered morning tea.
