Writer, farmer, television personality and chef Matthew Evans recently released his book The Real Food Companion, which is a distillation of everything he’s ever learnt about food over four decades.
A former food critic and the subject of SBS’s Gourmet Farmer television series, Matthew is also the author of multiple books including Winter on the Farm, The Gourmet Farmer deli book, The Gourmet Farmer goes fishing, The Commons, On eating meat and Soil: the Incredible Story of What Keeps the Earth, and Us, Healthy.
Matthew and his partner Sadie farm Wessex Saddleback pigs at Fat Pig Farm in the Huon Valley in Tasmania. The farm is home to chooks, a beef herd, goats, bees, ducks, a heritage apple orchard and an enormous market garden that supplies everything served at Fat Pig Farm’s weekly feasts.
