Nelly Robinson began his food career with an apprenticeship at the Michelin-starred English restaurant Northcote Manor, in his home county of Lancashire, where he trained under Chef Nigel Haworth and his team including Warrick Dodds (NICO), Mark Birchill (L’Enclume), and Lisa Allen. 

In 2007, at just 22 years old, he took on the role of Head Chef at Lancashire’s Stanley House. During his career, Nelly has also worked in Sweden, Hong Kong and other UK restaurants, expanding his skills and broadening his experience.

In early 2015, Nelly opened nel. restaurant on Wentworth Avenue in downtown Sydney, where he offers a monthly seasonal degustation menu that has proven popular with diners. Nel. was named People’s Choice Restaurant of the Year 2016 by online booking system Dimmi, as well as Time Out Sydney’s People’s Choice Award in August 2015.
