Fish Free: The Best Non-Seafood Dishes at Sydney Fish Market

It's no secret that Sydney Fish Market is one of the best places in Sydney to enjoy fresh seafood. But many Sydneysiders have no idea that the Market also offers a huge range of non-seafood dishes.

Whether you're not a seafood eater, or just want to try something a little different, use this list of tasty options as your guide to the huge range of food available.

Toasties

The toasties available at Blackwattle Deli are one of the best kept secrets in the Market; those in the know will tell you that they're some of the tastiest and most varied sandwiches in Sydney. Our recommendation is the unique Wagyu Kimchi toastie, which provides the perfect balance of spice and salt, but they also have a classic ham and cheese available.

Bakery Treats

Our on-site bakery, Gregory's Bread, provides all the baked goods you could ever need. Aside from the convenience of picking up a fresh baguette as you shop, their selection of sweet treats (including Portuguese Tarts, Crème Brulés, croissants, cupcakes and so much more) make the perfect dessert to top off a seafood feast.

Vic's Meats

Sydney Fish Market is lucky enough to be the home of one of the best butchers in the city, Vic's Meats, which is your one-stop shop for the best quality meat products.

Vic's attached Smokehouse & Grill is a fantastic option for a non-seafood lunch, offering a wide range of delicious burgers, wings, ribs, and meat platters. We recommend getting the family together for this one – their platters are made to feed a crowd!

Noodles and Soups

Some of the lesser-known menu items available from Sydney Fish Market's hot food retailers are their delicious noodles and soups. While these can include seafood if you want, you can also order vegetarian Tom Yum soup, Hokkien Noodles, and a bunch of other Asian noodle dishes from retailers like Christie's Seafoods, made fresh by their in-house cooks.

Bonus: Christie's also often has delicious, crispy fried chicken available. If you're lucky enough to see it in the window, order it for sure! KFC has nothing on this.

Get Fruity

If you're feeling like something on the healthier end of the spectrum, after chowing down on a delicious fried seafood platter, visit Parisi's Waterside Fruit Connection, which is tucked away at the end of the arcade. Not only does this green grocer sell some of the freshest fruit and vegetables in Sydney (for fantastic prices), but it is also home to a little juice bar, which offers a huge range of yoghurt and fruit packs, chocolate covered fruit, smoothies, and freshly-squeezed juices.
