Chinese New Year brings out the ‘big cats’ at Sydney Fish Market
Experience the sights and sounds of Chinese New Year at Sydney Fish Market (SFM) as it celebrates the ‘Year of the Tiger’ on Sunday, 14 February.
While Black Tiger Prawn and Tiger Flathead are sure to be in great demand, visitors will have plenty of other reasons to visit SFM.
With a competitive-streak characteristic of those born in the Year of the Tiger, the Wests Tigers NRL team will take on the SFM sponsored ACCA Dragon Boat Racing Team in a dragon boat match race down on Blackwattle Bay commencing at 11.30am.
Visitors can also admire the colour and movement of the Lion dancers in a traditional performance from 2pm, said to bring good luck, happiness and prosperity in the New Year.
Red and gold Chinese lanterns will line the market, with the colour red also a reminder of romance for Valentine’s Day.
Parking is available at SFM on the day of the event. Alternatively catch the Metro Lightrail to our very own SFM stop. Bus services 501 and 443 also regularly depart from the city. For route and timetable information, visit www.131500.com.au.
