Events at Sydney Fish Market

Blessing of the Fleet :: Sunday, September 25

The oldest tradition amongst fishing communities across the world, Blessing of the Fleet, will return to Sydney Fish Market on Sunday, 25 September.

The statue of Madonna will be transported from Strathfield's St Martha's Catholic Church and placed in front of fishing vessels moored at the Blackwattle Bay wharf. The parish priest will lead the ceremony and bestow blessings on the local Sydney fleet and visiting boats.

Following the ceremony is a day of celebrations with live music, face painting, and the hotly contested spaghetti eating competition. Italian artists will entertain audiences from a floating stage moored next to our iconic boardwalk.

Stay tuned to our Facebook page for more information over the coming weeks.
