As attention on Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues around the world, Sydney Fish Market is taking precautionary measures to protect its staff, workers, visitors and business operations.

Sydney Fish Market’s auction is the only market of its kind in Australia, servicing the seafood trade of hundreds of suppliers and buyers every weekday. Any closure to the auction would cause major disruption to this operation and of those we conduct business with.

Therefore, we have decided to suspend all non-essential access to the auction area to reduce the risk of a potential market closure. This includes a temporary suspension of our Behind the Scenes Tours.

We are monitoring the situation daily and are complying with and responding immediately to any relevant guidelines which are issued by the Australian Department of Health and the NSW Department of Health.

The latest tour in our offering is the Brunch Tour. Designed to provide real-time, hands-on experience to better learn where their seafood comes from, how to choose it, and how to turn it into an incredible meal at home. This unique experience will equip you with all the tools required to elevate your seafood knowledge to new heights.

Our expert guide will help you navigate the market to seek out the best value, finest quality seafood including some of the more unusual species you may not have seen before. 

You’ll also get an opportunity to see the auction floor (outside of working hours) and learn how the Dutch auction system works. Experience the authenticity of a working market by seeing expert filleters and oyster shuckers at work. If you’re lucky, you may even get a photo with an enormous King Crab or meet a local fisherman.

Feeling hungry yet? Our guide will then help you choose everything you need for one of the most unique brunches in Sydney. Choose from an endless selection of Prawns, Oysters, Crabs, whole fish, Sea Urchin roe, Scampi to enjoy raw or have cooked to order.

Our Brunch Tour is a personalised experience with a maximum of six guests, so please make sure you book early to secure your place.

Please note, food is as per your selection and at additional cost.

Where and When?

  • Tours are held every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (except public holidays and between Christmas and New Year)
  • Tours begin at 10:00am and will end around 11:30am
  • The tour meeting point is at the wooden tables inside the main arcade, just next to Christie's Seafoods. 


All tickets are $35 per person

Parking at Sydney Fish Market is included. Please bring your parking ticket with you to be validated.

What to Bring

Flat, enclosed shoes and an open mind.


Places on the tours are limited and bookings are essential.

Group Bookings

Group bookings and Private Tours are encouraged. 

  • Small groups  may be accommodated on the regular Brunch Tour, subject to availability.
  • Bookings for these tours are essential.
  • Payment for all Group bookings must be made prior to the tour date. 
  • Please ensure that the group arrives promptly by 10:00am.
  • Prices for Private Tours vary depending on inclusions and duration. Please contact us for more details.

  • Due to limited places on the tour, we have a strict 48-hour cancellation/rescheduling policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule your tour, please email us, or call 02 9004 1100. No shows or cancellations within 48 hours of the tour start time will not be refunded.
