Chinese New Year Night Market at SFM

Join us to celebrate the first day of the Lunar New Year

Celebrate the Year of the Dog and experience the rare opportunity of enjoying Sydney Fish Market after dark.

From 4.00pm, Sydney Fish Market will transform into a bright, multi-coloured Night Market, with red hanging lanterns illuminating the boardwalk and delicious Chinese inspired food offerings wafting throughout the arcade.

Sydneysiders and tourists are welcome to come and enjoy the variety of seafood delights on offer, and enjoy watching the sun set on the boardwalk.

Traditional lion dancers will parade throughout the carpark and arcade from 5.30 - 6.30pm.

Dining options include Yum Cha and Chinese cuisine at the licensed restaurants as well as fresh and cooked seafood from the selection of retailers on site. Customers can enjoy the pleasures of whole fish, crabs and lobsters, seafood BBQ, fresh oysters shucked to order, fresh fruit and desserts from the fruit and vegetable stalls. Alternately, stock up for your own Chinese New Year feast at home.

Sydney Fish Market will also be handing out red envelopes in the hope of bestowing happiness and good prosperity to visitors.

Getting Here

The best way to get to SFM is via public transport

  • Sydney Light Rail: operates between Central, Haymarket, Darling Harbour, Lilyfield and Dulwich Hill, hop off a the Fish Market stop and follow the signs.
  • Bus Route 501: City/West Ryde/Ryde service departs from Miller St opposite Jones St
  • Bus Route 389: North Bondi/Pyrmont/City service departs from Harris and Allan St
  • Boat: Sydney Fish Market a landing pontoon to allow access to the market for small, private vessels.  The pontoon is restricted to vessels 6 metres and under and will be a drop off/pick up facility only to ensure maximum availability of the pontoon.
