Introducing
Kathy Snowball

Kathy left a successful career in merchant banking in Sydney in the early 1980’s to study at Leith’s School of Food and Wine in London.

After 6 years of catering and teaching in London she returned to Australia and, in 1993, joined the Australian Gourmet Traveller team, first as Sub Editor, then Food Editor. In 2000, she was appointed Food Director of Australian Gourmet Traveller (as well as 3 other ACP magazines: Wine, Australian Table and Simply Lite). In her role as Food Director Kathy edited 2 cookbooks for Gourmet Traveller: Gourmet Menus and Food for Friends.

Kathy left ACP in 2003 to pursue a freelance career as a food writer, menu consultant and cooking teacher. She writes regular features for Vogue Entertaining + Travel and Cuisine magazine and has co-written 2 cookbooks with Jan Purser (both published by Allen and Unwin): The Eat Well Cookbook: Dairy-free and Gluten-free Recipes for Food Lovers and The Detox Cookbook: Cleansing for Food Lovers.

Kathy now divides her time between an apartment in Sydney and her home in Orange, where she tends her kitchen garden and gives cooking classes. She has been a regular on Sydney Seafood School’s program since her days with Australian Gourmet Traveller and now presents a seasonal dinner party class each program, one of the few classes to feature a dessert.

Kathy is teaching at Sydney Seafood School on 13 November 2008. View more details >
